Hola a todos!
Every once in awhile, this blogger wants to add a little variety to this wrestling blog to make things more interesting. The following subject came up over coffee with several wrestling friends yesterday.
Over the years as a wrestling fan, a number of things have changed. As mentioned in a post yesterday, things have changed such as wrestlers staying in shape, going to the gym more, the equipment, the different eras, safety precautions, etc.
One thing that hasn't changed in a normal wrestling match is with a champion of a promotion.
A champion knows when having a title, if he or she, the opponent, or both wrestlers gets disqualified, in a normal match, the champion will retain the title. If the champion pins or the opponent submits, they retain as well.
In recent years, the wrestling industry has added something that you would never see back in the Territory Days.
Today, fans can watch three, four and possibly five way matches with a champion or champions involved. In a regular match, there are only two ways a champion or champions can retain a title.
Number one - A champion or champions (tag team) must pin or a submission one of the opponents.
Number two - The champion or champions get disqualified.
However, there is a disadvantage in a three, four or five way match. If a wrestler is pinned or submits to a non champion in the match, the actual champion going into the match loses the title.
Just a thought for today!
