Back in November, this blogger, while working on another wrestling blog in another region, I received a message from a wrestler in Peru.
Wrestling has been a part of this fan for a long time....since 1968 during what was The Territory Era. My favorites growing up were guys like Pat Patterson, Rocky Johnson, the late father of The Rock and Peter Maivia.
The industry went through a change during the 1970s in the United States with the beginning of something called Lucha Libre. It became a popular event in Southern California, some 700 kilometers south of where I live. Our UHF television station began showing live matches from the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles on Wednesdays.
It was an instant hit right away for this fan. The wrestlers involved were definitely more athletic, seemingly in better shape and were more exciting to watch. There were the Guerrero Brothers (Chavo Jr., Mando and Hector) leading the charge. It led to greater things like the late Eddie Guerrero, Juevntud Guerrera, and many others that followed.
Hopefully he won't mind this but a wrestler named J.O.C from the wrestling promotion, GeneraXion Lucha Libre from Lima, Peru, messaged me. Because of his sincere message, and I say that, it was a jump start to begin a blog on Pro Wrestling in South America. Personally, this fan don't know if there's a wrestling blog in the South American continent. There wasn't one in the United States, not until now.
J.O.C has goals as does every wrestler in South America. This blogger knows that he wants to wrestle for WWE, AEW, and/or a big company. That is a large mountain to climb for any wrestler. That being said, nothing is impossible.
This fan has seen improvement with J.O.C since the blog began. Also, GLL Peru has improved their shows since I began following them. They are exciting to watch and you can see it with the fanbase. It's a tribute to them as individuals and collectively.
People may think I might favor J.O.C over everyone. Definitely, he's important and deserves the credit for motivating me. It's important to favor the promotion as a whole, and everyone who is a part of it. GLL Peru was the first group followed and, despite my limited Spanish, they are easy to follow. As a fan, and one who grew up enjoying sports, the team concept is important in any group.
Grim Reaper is someone I exchange messages with often and an important part of GLL Peru. He does a lot to help the promotion with videos (yes, he has a You Tube channel), does promoting and provides results.
There are others such as Ricky Valero, Havoc, Ramses Darkstrike, Demonio Seven, Percy, Slayer, Renzo, Prince Diego, Lee Shu and others in which I've sent messages regarding my posts to. Everyone has been gracious in getting the word out, something that is more than appreciated here.
Back to J.O.C for a minute, he messaged me recently saying that he's going to Chile to wrestle in a show promoted by Arica Lucha Libre in the northern most portion of Chile. Seeing this is great. Just over the weekend, this blogger was aware that Ramses and Havok wrestled in a show in Ecuador (WAR Lucha Libre). Wrestling in the country and city where the fanbase is good, is a good thing.
Going outside the country is great as well because one gets international experience. As mentioned before, Ramses and Havok appreciated what happened this past Saturday and J.O.C will feel the same appreciation later this month.
In closing, when deleting the previous blog, J.O.C was mentioned there. As a blogger, this post needed to be redone again and done better!
In closing, apologies for the long post. However, numerous people at GLL Peru and in other countries have appreciated what the blog is about. This blogger wants to share the following:
El blog esta centrado en los luchadores, el personal y los fanaticos. Muchas gracias por permitirme ser una pequena parte de algo que amo.
